We drove into the park on Sunday. The girls were so fun! When we checked in at the park on Saturday we checked out a discovery backpack that the park lends out for free. If you visit the park with kids, I highly recommend getting one of these. There's stuff for kids of all ages included--my girls got use out of it for sure.
We used the strategy I've used before when driving in--drive in with the fewest stops possible, take your time driving out. It's been several years since we'd done the drive so it was fun to see how much the park has changed in those few years. One of the changes was at the very end of the road at Kantishna where the old miner's cabin in open for walking through. I'm a sucker for old buildings...I always find them interesting!
There were also some new photo viewpoints along the way. This was one of my favorites....
This photo spot isn't new, but I love the picture of us!
Of course...we also saw some critter along the way.
Lest you get the idea that you never see other people on these driving days here's a photo to prove that there are *lots* of others out as well. Drivers are easily spotted for the next few days by our extraordinarily dusty cars! We were so lucky though--it rained all the other days of the road lottery and we got this amazing bluebird day! We got so many great pictures and many more treasured memories!
We were not selected for the 2018 road lottery, so we'll see what 2019 holds for us!
