Washington--The Family Picnic

Our first full day in Washington was the day of the Godwin family picnic.  It's an annual event that has been happening for the last 8 or 10 years in various locations. We're not always able to attend, but this year it was in Washougal, so we made sure our travel days covered it.  My parents planned and hosted this year at Fallen Leaf Lake Park.  We have had the family picnic there before and people really liked the location and why not--any time you can rent a whole lake it's going to be fun!

My folks chose a "Christmas in July" theme, so the girls worked with Kirstyn to make Christmas cookies the day we arrived.  We used Christmas themed paper products and had an ornament painting station set up in the shade.  Meanwhile, down in the sunshine the kids played and played.  My cousin brought kiddo kayaks and stand up paddle boards and my aunt and uncle brought an inflatable raft.  Lots of water play fun for kids and adults!

Grandpa (and others) tried out the hammock we got them for Christmas.

After the picnic we swung by the Camas Car Show to see Moo Grandpa and his Camaro...

It was a busy first day and we were all tired by the end, but we sure had a lot of fun!
