Aunt Shelly Comes to Alaska!

Scott's sister was here for a long weekend over the 4th of July.  Her last visit was in 2010, so we were excited to show her a bit more of Alaska.  This time we picked her up at the airport, explored the Anchorage Market, and then headed on up to the cabin.  Auntie wanted to see our new place and we were eager to share our new retreat with her.

The first morning Kelsey cooked some breakfast, while Stacy kept Aunt Shelly busy learning how to play cribbage.

Our friends were down the road at their cabin this weekend as well, so there was lots of going back and forth.  The girls were delighted to have some kids to play with and we adults all had fun visiting.  We had a bonfire one night and set off a few fireworks.  Fireworks in Alaska on the 4th of July are pretty anti-climactic since it is so light, even at midnight!

When my dad was here, he and Kelsey had made this great rope swing which we have all been enjoying...

While we were up with Auntie, we added a bouy to the swing.  It's even more fun now!

We came home to Whittier on the 4th and Auntie flew out on the morning of the 5th. It was a whirlwind trip, but so much fun!
