::Lately::

Seems like I always *think* I am going to sit down here and write...and then I rarely do!  Here's what we've been up to lately...

::Crowder Concert::
We went to a very fun concert a little over a week ago.  It was super fun to see one of our favorite artists live and the Anchorage Baptist Temple is set up nicely for concerts...there's not a bad seat in the house!

We went with a group of friends and the girls all had so much fun.  It was neat to see them having such a good time together.  Stacy was probably the most excited.  She was just beside herself the entire time--it was pretty adorable!

::Pool Party::
We had Stacy's birthday party last weekend at the West High School swimming pool in Anchorage.  It's totally reasonable to rent the pool, so we drove a whole bunch of Whittier kids (3 cars full!) to town to take advantage of the opportunity.  We swam for an hour, ate pizza and cake, and came home.  Everyone had lots of fun!

::Cultural Heritage Week::
The girls were gone for a whole week to Cultural Heritage Week in Tatitlek.  We went together in 2014 and had a blast, so it was fun to see them so excited to go again.  They had amazing chaperones and it sounds like everyone had tons of fun, even if they are all exhausted!  Here they are on board the ferry from Whittier to Valdez.  They then went on to Tatitlek from there.  They left on Mother's Day and I was very proud of myself for holding it together until they were out of sight.  Then I was such a hot mess that one of our local cops stopped to ask me if I was OK!  It was very kind of him.

You'd think that Scott and I would have done all sorts of fun stuff, but the week ended up being crazy busy.  We went out to dinner a couple of times though, and we did get to take a quick boat trip one night.We found that although it was fun to have a bit of freedom, we really missed our kids!  We enjoy our time with them, so the quiet got old pretty fast and we missed how helpful they are.  They are so good at offering to help out--I didn't realize how much I have come to depend on them!

::Boat Ride::
While the girls were gone there were some Army Corps of Engineers volunteers in town building a monument for us.  It will be so neat when it is all done!  Scott spent a fair amount of time entertaining them, and on Wednesday night we took them out in a friend's boat for a quick trip to pull some shrimp pots, to visit the rookery, and over to see Billings Glacier.  It was a nice night for a ride!

::Moose!::
On Saturday I went grocery shopping all my myself and stopped along the way a few times to take pics...

::Picnic and Paddle Boarding::
Tonight we celebrated a week of sunshine with a big BBQ at the head of the bay.  We had just a *little* bit of food...and a lot of friends!

The girls were *SO HOT* at 67 degrees that they had to get in the water and cool off...

The one of our friends rented some paddle boards and we all had fun giving that a go!

They look so tiny against the huge mountains that surround us.  They had a lot of fun, that's for sure!  After we'd been out for a bit our local rental place delivered two more paddle boards, just for fun.  He said he knew we had lots of people and no one was using them anyway.  Those are the little things that make this a great place to live!

So...that's what we've been up to lately!  We have a little over a week of school left and then the girls and I are really hoping that the weather is nice so we can go camping!!  Cross your fingers for us!
