Anchorage Museum

The girls and I took a little trip to town yesterday and met some friends at the Anchorage Museum.  Our main goal was to visit the Brick by Brick exhibit, but as long as we were there we visited the Imaginarium and the Art of the North exhibits as well.  It was lots of fun and great to catch up with friends as well!

All of the pieces from this In Pieces collection were on display, both the photos and the Lego creations featured in each photo.  Things like this cool Lego umbrella...

And this Lego pup...

This series was built by Nathan Sawaya and photographed by Dean West.  Really neat stuff!  Another large component of the exhibit was the work of Mike Stimpson.  Mr. Stimpson has done all sorts of entertaining photos of Lego minifigs.  Some of them imitate iconic images from history, some of them are just fun.  Here are a few...

Which is of course inspired by this famous photo...

And this group of hard working minifigs...

Inspired by this photo of course...

And finally these minifigs in uniform...

And the inspiring photo...

Finally there was an area where you could build and some books for inspiration.  There were also some 'in process' pieces you could participate in.  The kids loved the technology area where you could take selfie and turn it into a Lego creation and you could create a minifig that looks like you.  A very fun outing!

As usual we had fun at the Imaginarium...

And Kelsey LOVED the art displays...

The rest of our day was spent running errands and grocery shopping.  We're crazy kids like that! :-)

Happy New Year's Eve!  I'm spending mine nursing a 7 year old with a tummy bug...hope yours is a little less messy!
