Summer City Fair

While we were in town last Friday we checked out the Summer City Fair in Cuddy Park in Anchorage.  What fun!  All the fun of the rides at the state fair without the lines!  First we spied the ducks and geese in the pond.  Some nice ladies shared some bread with the girls...

Then we headed over to the carnival.  First the girls got their faces painted...

Then we headed over to the ferris wheel...

Next up we rode the scrambler...

Then we did a Viking boat swing ride.  The first time I went with the girls...

The second time they went by themselves...

There was also some hula hooping...

And a ride on the carousel...

We wrapped up our afternoon with a stop by the fountain at the Loussac Library...

It was a fun way to spend an afternoon!  The weather was fantastic and the carnival was small enough that it wasn't totally overwhelming for the girls.

We have been enjoying a streak of AMAZING weather here...weather so amazing that I am doing extra loads of laundry because we don't own very many pairs of shorts around here.  It has reached the 90s in Anchorage!  We were in town yesterday and it was in the upper 80s...my kids totally fizzled at the park.  They asked to leave saying, "It's too hot to have fun, Mom!  It feels like Grandma's house.  It's supposed to be comfortable in Alaska!"  Poor kids...they have no frame of reference for heat!  Hot or not, we've certainly enjoyed it.  The rain returned to Whittier today...showers off and on.  I'm not gong to lie...it was kind of nice.  It smelled so fresh!  And I needed to slow down a bit, too.  All that fun in the sun has worn us all out!
