Solstice

One of the things I love most about Whittier is the impromptu celebrations we have here.  When the weather clears, summer or winter, we take advantage of it!  A perfect example was Friday...the winter solstice and a big deal here in dark Whittier!  The wind stopped its seemingly incessant blowing and we put together a last minute skate party...invitations put out the community via text messages and Facebook and we're off!  Whittier Public Safety kicked in the lights and Public Works towed them over there and provided us some hot water.  Various community members kicked in cup noodles, hot chocolate, cider and such and party was had!

It was 9 degrees, but we were toasty warm and had a blast!  Happy longer days, friends!
